"The Road to Now" – such is the title of a new book (in Polish) by Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko, published by Prószyński i S-ka. The book (312 pp.) takes the form of conversation between the Director of TIGER and Professor Pawel Kozlowski. The publisher advertises the book in the following words: „The road to now. The personal and the Polish. The book encourages the reader to reflect on his country, the reality around, and on himself. Author with gusto and courage, with objectivity and logic shows how in his presence, and later with his participation, the policy has been taking shape making an influence on our fate. And the politics always has its lobbies where many people scrolls...”

Professor G. W. Kolodko’s book „Truth, Errors, and Lies: Politics and Economics in a Volatile World”, was nominated for the Michael Harrington Award for outstanding book that demonstrates how scholarship can be used in the struggle for a better world, is now published in paperback edition. It’s also available as e-book.

Scientific Publishing SCHOLAR publishes extensive work (1 279 pages) under the title "Grzegorz W. Kolodko and Quarter-century of Transformation" (in Polish), edited by Professors Pawel Kozlowski of the University of Warsaw and Marcin Wojtysiak-Kotlarski of the Warsaw School of Economics. TIGER hosts the conference on “Innovations and emerging technologies for the prosperity and quality of life”. The aim of the conference is to provide an opportunity for the experts from different fields (economics, science&engineering, business and public administration) to discuss firstly, the role of innovations and emerging technologies in building economic prosperity and quality of life in Poland and the EU, and secondly point to the major present and future challenges related to the national and regional innovation strategies as well as the Europe 2020 Strategy.

Professor G. W. Kolodko, the Director of TIGER, presents a keynote lecture on “The New Pragmatism” and takes a part in panel and round-table debates at the International Financial and Economic Forum on “Russian Economic Policy in the Presence of Global Turbulence”. The conference is organized by the Financial University in Moscow. Professor Kolodko has the title of Doctor Honoris Cause of the Financial University.

Following The Fryderyk Skarbek Award granted by the Polish Academy of Sciences for the book "Whither the World: The Political Economy of the Future" (vol. I  & vol. II ), Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko has received THE AWARD OF MINISTER OF SCIENCE AND HIGHER EDUCATION FOR OUTSTANDING SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS in the category of research for economic development for the book “Whither the World: The Political Economy of the Future” (vol. I  & vol. II ). It should be mentioned that the book “Truth, Errors, and Lies: Politics and Economics in a Volatile World” was nominated for the Michael Harrington Award „for an outstanding book that demonstrates how scholarship can be used in the struggle for a better world.”

Jerzy Toborowicz, Ph.D. Student in the Kozminski University, consultant in the World Bank and VP in the Youth Reforms Poland Initiative (www.mlodzireformujapolske.pl) will present a report written by young economists on the last 25 years of economic transition in Poland and the future directions for the Polish economy. He will also talk about how the report gave rise to a new movement of young people committed to changing Poland.

The event organized within the series of debates known as "The Thursday at the Economists”, hosted by the Polish Economic Society, PTE, is dedicated to the discussion of the book "The Road to Now”, in which Professor Kolodko discusses with Professor Pawel Kozłowski of the University of Warsaw the issues of the economy and economics, society and politics, Poland and the world. Immediately after the Forum the Director of TIGER attends the Running Festival during which he presents a public lecture called “Running Through the World” and signs his books on the world issues.

Kolodko presents a keynote lecture on “Democracy and Development”. The TIGER’s Director speech introduces to the panel debate moderated by editor-in-chief of daily “Rzeczpospolita”, Boguslaw Chrabota. Kolodko presents a keynote lecture on „In Quest for a Better Future: The New Pragmatism” at the conference  „Leadership, Education, Innovation” which, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of Fulbright Program in Poland, is organized by the Foundation of Polish-American Fulbright Commission jointly with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the USA Embassy in Poland. Ten years ago, on May 1st, 2004, Poland joined the European Union. This historical act was possible due to the great systemic changes, which had been successfully concluded during 2002-03, when Professor G.W. Kolodko was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and Chairman of Economic Committee of the SLD-PSL coalition government. On the eve of anniversary of this event  Professor Kolodko addresses the special session of Polish Parliament and presents a lecture on the process of Poland’s integration with the EU.

The TIGER Director, Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko, has received delegation of the World Bank, paying a working visit to Warsaw. The delegation was lead by Professor Kaushik Basu, Senior Vice President for Development Economics and World Bank Chief Economist.

Professor G. W. Kołodko has run for the 42nd time the distance of over 42 kilometers (26,1 miles)! This time in 4:45.59 he’s run Orlen Warsaw Marathon. It’s worth to mention that the TIGER Director has initiated the Kozminski Marathon Club and as many as five persons for our university – including three researchers form TIGER, since dr. Jacek Tomkiewicz and dr. Marcin Piatkowski – have reached the finish line at the National Stadium. Congratulations!

Kolodko – a participant of the Round Table negotiations, member of the Economic Council of Council of Ministers in 1989-91, and deputy prime minister and minister of finance in four governments in 1994-97 and 2002-03 – to contribute to panel debate, in which, among others, also participate professors Marek Belka and Witold Orlowski.

Exactly 25 years ago – on April 5th, 1989 – after two months of negotiations, the Polish Round Table agreement was signed. This historical event, in which Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko, at that time the Director of Research Institute of Finance, had taken a part too, had a fundamental meaning for the dynamics and direction of the systemic changes in our part of the world.

At the Summit, which is organized by the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation, Professor Kolodko speaks on the future of the world economy. It's worth to mention that Professor Kolodko’s book on the world affairs, “Truth, Errors, and Lies: Politics and Economics in a Volatile World”, has been published also in the Turkish language: "Gezici Dünya. Only three months has passed since international scientific conference organized by the Director of TIGER on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Kozminski University, and already a special book called “Management and Economic Policy for Development" (in Polish „Zarzadanie i polityka gospodarcza dla rozwoju”, edited by prof. Grzegorz W. Kolodko, has been published (Poltext, Warszawa 2014, p. 488). It opens with a chapter entitled „Behind the Rise and Decline of Grassroots Dynamism” written by the Nobel laureate, Professor Edmund S. Phelps of Columbia University.
